The new Elegant front door system from Deceuninck:
Elegant and with ThermoFibra completely without steel
Bogen, March 2020. Deceuninck will present its new front door system for Elegant for the first time at Fensterbau Frontale 2020. The new system will be shown at the trade fair in two versions – with and without integrated ThermoFibra fibreglass technology. It’s based on the new iCOR platform that is unrivalled throughout the world: the first universal building block that enables profiles for sashes and frames with different styles and technologies to be combined with each other. Both variants of the new Elegant front door system will be available from 1 June 2020 with a new range of 50 finishes and colours.
Like the window system of the same name, the new Elegant front door system is based on the iCOR platform: the requirement for the use of ThermoFibra fibreglass technology in Elegant front doors. ThermoFibra reinforces the profiles with embedded continuous glass fibre strands that stabilise the door and also enable the highest thermal insulation values. In this version this is the first time that a PVC door does not require steel reinforcement – which has far-reaching positive effects for the production of this door. For instance, the reinforcements no longer have to be stocked, which also reduces logistics expenses. Also, the steel no longer has to be cut to size or screwed during installation and the corner connectors that had to be welded are also no longer necessary. This reduces the time required for installation and also the associated costs.
At the same time, the use of ThermoFibra considerably improves the thermal insulation value; for instance, with a 36 mm filling, it is possible to achieve a Uf values of 0.97 W/m2K. In addition, from a technical design aspect, the fact that the reinforcement chamber is no longer needed leads to a considerable improvement in profile and torsion stability due to the higher number of PVC bars.
Compared to the Elegant front door with steel reinforcement, the weight can be reduced by up to 40 % – although, as with the steel variant, similar element sizes of up to 2.50 m are possible.
In Elegant front doors without ThermoFibra, 2.0 mm steel reinforcement is used in the frame and sash to ensure perfect stability and warping resistance. Steel-reinforced profile corners made from die-cast zinc moulded parts increase stability and make the doors extremely suitable for everyday use.
Especially flat aluminium floor thresholds seal Elegant against air and driving rain: a thermally separated threshold creates a seal with false mullion doors. Retractable locking plates are another option. Zero thresholds are also available for both front doors.
