Over 30 years ago, full glass facades, with the bonding of the glass on to the aluminium substructure, were introduced in the USA. These are now known as structural glazing systems. This construction method generates homogeneous, light-flooded building envelopes out of glass, which meet the highest architectural demands, and allow for the construction of additionally individual and versatile designs.

Bonding the glass to the substructure, which is usually made out of powder coated-, anodized aluminium or stainless steel, the glue absorbs static and dynamic stress like dead load, wind load and thermal elongation of the diverse materials and transfers these stresses on to the substructure.

These demands can only be accomplished by using high performance silicones. They have a wide adhesion range and are extremely UV and temperature resistant and also offer a permanent elasticity. Thus they can be utilized world wide, especially in countries with severe climates.

With Ködiglaze S KOEMMERLING provides a high quality 2-part silicone for Structural Glazing applications.
