World first from ABUS – convenient wireless opening and closing of French doors
• Battery-operated power unit replaces standard window handle, enabling
users to open and close their French doors using a wireless transmitter
• Available in two variants – convenience or security – depending on
• Window handle’s mechanical function is not affected – French doors can
still be operated manually
Wetter/Ruhr – March 2018 – This smart French door opening mechanism from ABUS is the first of its kind to be released on the market worldwide, transforming conventional French doors into a fully functioning entrance, which can be opened and closed conveniently via wireless remote control or keypad. Manufactured in Germany, this innovative solution is available in two designs: the convenient HomeTec Pro FCA3000 or the anti-intrusion security version with integrated bar lock, the HomeTec Pro FSA3550. Both product versions are fitted with a local alarm function that sounds an approx. 110-dB alarm when an attempted break-in is detected.
Thanks to the new French door power unit, ABUS can provide houses and apartments with another entrance on the ground floor. In order to achieve this, the conventional window handle is replaced in just a few steps with the FCA3000 motorised window handle; this only requires two screws to be removed. The battery-operated handle can then be controlled via wireless operation and thereby enables French doors to be conveniently opened and closed. The batteries also power the local alarming function, thus ensuring added security. This solution allows users to conveniently enter and leave their house or apartment via their garden. For example, those who have their garage adjacent to their garden therefore have direct access to their house or apartment when returning with their shopping.
For added convenience, and added mechanical security
In addition to the convenient FCA3000 version, the new French door power unit is also available as a security version, the FSA3550. This solution combines the convenient wireless opening function with two sturdy additional locks for French doors. When the doors are closed, whether manually or wirelessly, the vertically mounted deadbolt engages, providing additional protection for the door at the top and the bottom. As well as the added convenience, this also provides significant extra protection as potential intruders encounter huge mechanical resistance. With the additional local alarm function, the FSA3500 version thus provides the optimal combination of mechanical and electronic security, and therefore ideal protection against intruders.
Manual and electronic operation possible
Both products can be controlled using the familiar HomeTec Pro smart door opener control devices: with high-quality wireless hand-held transmitters or using a wireless keypad installed outside. Thanks to individual code allocation, people can thus also use this function without their own wireless handheld transmitter, whether permanently or for a fixed time period, by programming the respective code accordingly. The French door power unit can, of course, still be used like a conventional handle.
Member of the HomeTec Pro family
With the two French door power units, the FCA3000 and FSA3550, ABUS is extending its range of solutions marketed under the ‘HomeTec Pro’ label. This represents smart and easy-to-install power units for doors and windows, which enable them to be opened and closed wirelessly and therefore ensure greater convenience. Alongside the French door power units, there is also an electronic door power unit available in the form of the CFA3000. In terms of control devices, there are currently a wireless remote control and a wireless keypad available for outdoor installation.
The smart wireless security power unit, the ABUS FSA3550, can be used to open and close conventional French doors conveniently via wireless keypad or wireless remote control – you are also protected against break-ins thanks to an integrated alarm function.
