Intelligent building control in Smart Buildings
The new GEZE BACnet building automation system makes buildings really smart, in other words, fully networked, secure, energy-saving and efficient, since it now allows automatic doors and windows to be integrated into a building management system. The unique, interdisciplinary networking of GEZE's door and window technology, using smart software and open interfaces, is closing a gap, and opening up new opportunities in building automation. The system's unique advantages as well as its tasks are the central visualisation, operation and monitoring of automated GEZE products for door, window and safety technology. It can be used as a stand-alone system or be integrated into a higher-ranking building management system.
Networked and 'intelligent' doors and windows
GEZE Cockpit for the first time enables the full intelligence of GEZE products – which means all available control options and status information – to be integrated into the building network. Doors and windows can be operated 'intelligently', because now data from other participants and sub-systems can also be used. They can thus be controlled and monitored with the highest degree of precision. One example is setting an automated door's opening width, or a window opening and closing according to the external temperature, in interaction with temperature sensors and heating systems. All of a door's operations are fed back and can be actioned immediately as required.
Door and window scenarios – automatically the right response
Individual scenarios can be saved in GEZE Cockpit, so that doors and windows are automatically opened and closed or doors are automatically locked, triggered either by time or by a specific event. The system is particularly recommended in cases where automatic doors or windows need to be operated differently depending on the time of day, e.g. in office buildings, hospitals or shopping centres. There multifunctional doors are operated throughout the day using different modes of operation and during the night as secured emergency exit doors. Networking with GEZE Cockpit also allows doors to be monitored and operated, the mode of operation to be changed, or time-controlled functions to be managed remotely. Checks by staff are eliminated because the status of the individual products is fed back. Malfunctioning doors, alarm and error messages can be easily identified and countermeasures can be taken.
Ventilation scenarios ensure interdisciplinary interaction between product groups, creating an optimal indoor climate. Integrated in GEZE Cockpit, the façade technology responds to changing climatic conditions. Windows close according to the external temperature, rain and wind, or open depending on the room ambient temperature and air quality. Shading is activated in response to solar radiation. Time-controlled ventilation scenarios in office buildings enable natural energy-saving night-time back cooling, or individual rooms to be ventilated for meetings.
Operation via PC, tablet or smartphone
The control unit forms the logical hub of GEZE building networking. This BACnet building controller allows you to install three graded, browser-based software applications to ensure all building demands are covered. Any IP-enabled device – be it a PC, tablet or smartphone – can access and act on information from the system. With GEZE Cockpit up to 62 GEZE products can be networked: automatic door systems, emergency exit protection systems, hold-open systems, electric strikes, motor locks, windows and window groups. GEZE Cockpit communicates with the integrated doors and windows via IO 420 BACnet interface modules. The system's MS/TP interfaces receive signals from the doors and windows and send signals back in response.
