EControl-Glas has been producing adaptive glass at its head office in Plauen, Saxony, for ten years. The 60-person team is ahead of the competition with its experience in this field and is constantly developing the product further. The “Smart home” area is becoming more and more important – the future trend is clearly towards full integration for intelligent buildings. Temperature and brightness sensors as well as the planned burglary protection already form the basis for smart energy management on the façade, as will be obligatory in the near future.
The smart glass® from EControl is an adaptive building glazing. Depending on solar radiation and the time of the year, the light and energy transmission of the glass can be variably controlled.
EControl glasses have an internal nanostructured coating. By means of an electrochromic process and a low voltage (<5V), the smart glass® can easily be darkened – this causes it to turn blue and the solar energy entry is significantly reduced. This noticeably improves the indoor climate, and it is still possible to look out of the window – in contrast to conventional, mechanical shading.
