Wetter/Ruhr – March 2018 – Whenever entrance doors need to be secured, reinforced lock bars are generally first choice. With their proven hollow-bolt principle, they secure doors across their entire width. With the ABUS FPR217, ABUS is now applying the same technology to windows. The lock, developed and manufactured in Germany, is anchored in the reveal, secures the element across the entire width and thereby simultaneously protects the locking and hinge sides.
ABUS is adding a new security solution to its range of additional locks for the most popular point of entry: the window. Just like the reinforced lock bars on entrance doors, the new FPR217 reinforced lock bar for windows secures the element across its entire width. As a VdS-approved solution, the product offers optimum, certified protection. The additional lock is available in three lengths, thus enabling windows with a reveal length of between 35 and 226 cm to be secured, depending on their design.
With its streamlined design, the FPR217 not only has a modern aesthetic, its stainless steel square tubing also provides increased resisting torque in comparison to round profiles – a decisive advantage in terms of functionality. Its construction also has a deterrent effect on potential intruders as it is visible from the outside. The reinforced lock bar is particularly convenient and easy to use as locking is carried out via a pressure cylinder. As with other locks, a key is required to open it.
Fastening solutions for almost any installation situation
The ABUS FPR217 reinforced lock bar for windows is anchored in the window reveal as standard. If this form of assembly is not possible, however, there are further installation options available. These include, for example, clamp rings for installation in narrow niche areas, a mounting relocation kit that can be used for insulated brickwork, and a mounting kit for wall mounting where the window reveal is not deep enough.
The ideal additional lock for tenants
The ABUS FPR217 reinforced lock bar for windows is ideal for rented residential and commercial properties as neither window casements nor frames necessarily need to be drilled. As such, the lock can be easily removed again after moving out and without leaving behind any traces, such as drill holes on the window.
VdS-approved protection for windows – the universal ABUS FPR217 reinforced lock bar for windows protects conventional windows across their entire width thus effectively securing the two weak points on the hinge and lock side with one solution.
