Integrating the pinta abdichtung GmbH (Ltd) into the pinta elements Gmbh corporation, Michael Illbruck brought decades of experience in innovating joint sealing into his holding company. pinta abdichtung recently supplemented its extensive range of sealing products for window and façade elements, with a special tape for the renovation of old buildings. It allows a reliable and lasting bridging between building element and building structure.

The pinta abdichtung GmbH has been a subsidiary of the pinta elements GmbH since 2013, with Michael Illbruck as its sole owner and managing director. It offers, amongst many others, an extensive range of sealing tapes and filling- and insulating profiles for the reliable installation of building elements into the building structure.
With the “pintaband® 3complete renova”, the company developed a multifunctional tape, especially adapted to the requirements of renovating windows, doors and façade elements in old buildings. It is part of the latest generation of sealing tapes, combining three essential requirements in one: sealing from the inside, thermal insulation and sealing from the outside. The pre-compressed multifunctional tape on a roll, consists of a foam impregnated with acrylate. After installation, the tape expands and attaches itself to the building element, thereby sealing the joint between building element and building structure, making it airtight and driving-rain resistant. Through a downward gradient of insulation from the inside towards the exterior, a higher level of sealing, complying with DIN 18542, is achieved on the inner side, compared to the exterior. This guarantees a permanent drying-out of the joint outwards.
Special attention was given to the troublesome surface texture encountered in the renovation of old building joints, while developing the pintaband® 3complete Renova. These generally do not display the same smooth surfaces as in new constructions. They are mostly uneven and often marred by the dismantling of the old elements. Until now, a trowel finish of the reveal was necessary to ensure a reliable application of the sealing tape. Due to the back of the tape´s special texture, the foam can dig into the jagged subsurface and enable a form-fitting expansion in the hollows. Instead of a complete trowel finish, only priming is needed in certain sections. This saves time and money.
The renovating tape is commonly supplied in widths of 64, 74 and 84 mms, for joint widths from 4 to 20 mms. It seals the weather-side against wind and driving-rain, providing a vapour permeability value of ≥600 Pa and fulfilling the requirements of stress group BG 1 according to DIN 18542. A joint sound absorption of up to 59dB is obtained, depending on the degree of pressure applied during the installation of the tape. To ensure the correct installation, the edges of the tape are marked in colour and labeled accordingly.
According to the motto: if it doesn´t fit, use a bigger hammer, pintaband® 3complete Renova fits seamlessly into the building element joint and the entire pintaband range of products.
